Tina

Bottom Singer

Firstly, I'd like to start off by formally introducing myself, my name is Tina Pugh. I am the bottom singer of Tammy Edwards & the Edwards Sisters. I am the daughter of Norman & Tammy Pugh. I'm the grand child of James (late) & Diana Edwards. I am the youngest of my three brothers; Travian, Tavian, & Torrey. I do not have any children of my own, but I'm a proud auntie of 9 and loving every bit of it.

I was born September 5th, 1991 in Greenville, North Carolina. My parents should have known then that music would be running warm through my veins. I can recall my mom (Tammy) telling me on Labor Day and at home in Greenville... Labor Day is a day set aside for Quartet Singing. It's an annual gospel concert every year & I was born on that particular day. May not mean much to a lot, but it's definitely symbolic to me.

Outside of the deep musical impact my mother, father, & aunts place on me, I gotta give abundant credit to my late Grandfather, James Edwards. He truly made it possible for any of us to be doing what we're doing now. I have truly been inspired by some great influential gospel groups such as Willie Neal Johnson & the Gospel Keynotes, Tommy Ellison & the Five Singing Stars, The McDonald Sisters, The Canton Spirituals, & honestly some of the groups from back home in Greenville, NC. Each group named & even the groups unmentioned, has made an impact on me so paramount in my life that I could never forget my upbringing and I'm beyond grateful and thankful of that.

I officially became a solidified member of Tammy Edwards & the Edwards Sisters in January of 2012. Transparent moment; it all started as a joke, until Tammy had a red shirt and black skirt ready for me one weekend after "jokingly" aligning myself between Tonette & Taliah during an early Saturday morning rehearsal. What started out as a joke, God knew then where I stood & where I belonged. Not in the audience, not at the record table, or let alone doing anything else besides being on stage with my family. We go through together, we cry together, we laugh together, & most importantly we minister together. I could be doing anything else in the world, but I wouldn't trade my last dollar to do anything else besides what I love; which is ministering in song through music; our music.

Taliah

Middle Singer/ 2nd Lead

Hello, my name is Taliah. I was born November 23rd, and I am the daughter of Tonia. I sing alto and second lead in the group. I first started singing with the group when I was in the sixth grade, and I've been here ever since. Singing is very therapeutic for me and for me to be able to share the stage with my mother, my aunts, and cousins just makes it even more enjoyable!

I actually started singing around the age of 3 with my auntie Tammy. I would go around with her when she had to preach or sing and harmonize with her. She, along with Vanessa Bell Armstrong, The Clark Sisters, Lisa Page Brooks, Aretha Franklin, Lalah Hathaway, and a host of other singers have influenced me vocally.

Outside of singing, I attend Winston-Salem State University where I will be graduating in Fall 2020. I also enjoy acting in my spare time and have participated in a few productions also.
